About Me

Hi! I’m Hayden McAlister.

I am a PhD candidate at the University of Otago, New Zealand, focusing on associative memories, particularly the Hopfield network and Dense Associative Memory. My work also intersects with dynamical systems, discrete mathematics, and statistical physics.

Creatively, I enjoy playing guitar, crochet, knitting, and photography. Coincidentally, the majority of the posts on this blog are about said photography — certainly these are the most visually interesting for a reader!

Check out my GitHub! I prefer programming in Golang, although most of my day to day work involves playing about in Python with a variety of machine learning libraries.
